The 93LC56A Example in the CCS Manual |

Hi there,
I'm trying to get the example of the EEPROM 93LC56 Example in the CCS manual to work. The external EEPROM is wired up just like the one in the book, coded just the same yet it does not work. I checked the Monitor and it shows no data from the read_ext_eeprom command.
I downloaded the datasheet but I dont know if the included file 9356.c is correct.
Please help! This is the first time i've done this...
Thanks
TIM

What book are you referring to ? Is this some book on PICs,
or is this the CCS manual ?
What is the exact part number of the chip that you're using ?
There are several variations of the 9356.

I'm using the 93LC56A Eeprom chip. As far as the manual goes its the one that comes with the compiler. There is a small eeprom program in there showing the pin layout and the code, but I just cant get it to work.
Any ideas..

I looked at the 9356.C file, and I think it can work OK
with the 93LC56A chip.
I have a few questions:
1. What version of the compiler do you have ?
2. Is it the PCM or PCH compiler ?
3. What PIC are you using ? (ie., 16F877 or ?)
4. In addition to the 9356.C driver file, are you also
using the CCS example program, EX_EXTEE.C ?
5. Have you modified these programs in any way ?
6. Did you type them in by hand, or are you using
the files that CCS provides ? (just checking --
typing by hand is exceptionally prone to error)
7. Please post a table whichs gives the connections between
your EEPROM chip and the PIC pins. I need to know
this, because the two files listed above have got
two totally different suggestions on how to connect
the pins. Once I know which way you've done it,
I'll be able to help you better.
