USB Device Not Recognized

I'm trying to use usb to connect a pic18f2455 to hyperterminal. Unfortunately the computer does not recognize the usb device. I have tried to install the driver using the file cdc_NTXP.inf, but it says that it does not contain information about my hardware. I checked the VID and PID numbers in the inf file and usb_desc_cdc.h and they matched. Any suggestions?
