serial port monitor ASCII send problem

I can't send ASCII string with SPM. It prints a local copy of the string but it does not output anything on the port. Hex send works. Any help?

I assume this is the pin B3 serial port used by the CCS ICD debugger ?

Post a test program. Show us the code that works, and also show us the
code that doesn't work.
