problem with l6208
PostPosted: Fri Jul 14, 2006 1:07 am     Reply with quote

I have a problem with l6208 stepper driver. I use three pins: enable, dir, clock.

When I turn on the pic while my software is doing other things the motor moves random, then when there is the instruction: output_high(enable pin) and I send commands to clock and dir it is all ok.
how can I do?

Thank you

Try adding a high vaue resistor (something like 470K), between the enable pin, and GND.
Remember that when the PIC wakes up, till you 'drive' the output pin, the pin sits programmed as an input. Like this, lines can float. The only way to deal with this, is to ensure that when the PIC is not driving, lines default to their 'off' state (hence the resistor). The EN pin on these chips, if I remember correctly, is a very high impedance input, and so can end up floating to an 'active' level.

Best Wishes
