Power consumption of a PIC
PostPosted: Thu Apr 20, 2006 12:54 am     Reply with quote

I was interested in calculating the total power consumed by my PIC. I have used two timers, external interrupt, Hard and soft uarts, LCD attached, EEPROM, RTC and a level shifter, and another f84a draws its power from my main 18f452. The 18f datasheet specifies a summation formula that I could not assimilate at once. Can you guyz drop a hint to calculate it ?

Here is a quick and dirty one for you ignoring all power saving mechanisms. PIC18F452 current consumption = 0.85mA per MHz plus any source and sink current which is dependant on your implementation.

Your milage may vary.
