PCB mounted switches - slightly OT
PostPosted: Thu Apr 06, 2006 12:58 pm     Reply with quote

Hi,

Apologies - this is slightly off topic. I've used CCS in a project, and am now working out how to present the project itself. The plan was to use PCB mounted push switches for controlling the system, and then for the case to have buttons that would press down on the pcb switch pads. I've seen these before, so they must be very common.

While PCB mounted switches are easy to come by, case mounted thingies to let me press them when mounted in a case are not - anyone know what I should be looking for?

The disadvantage of using a simple switch on a fly lead is one of size...

Cheers,

Ben

One alternative might be a box like the Hammond 1455 series. The ends of the box come off and the box has built in racks for PCBs. Mount some right angle PCB mount switches on the edge of the card and cut holes in the end panels. These boxes come in many different sizes, and have either metal or plastic end panels

Another solution would be to find some nice panel mount poush to make switches that aren't too deep. For some reason all the ones I've found are very deep though - I could fit a panel mounted button in if it were only 10mm or so in depth...
