FREQUENCY MEASUREMENTS

DEAR FRIENDS
I MEASURED THE FREQUENCY OF AN ASTABLE MUTIVIBRATOR USING PIC 16F877 WITH THE EXAMPLE CODE FREQ.C IN CCS C COMPILER IT SHOWS A FEQUENCY OF 3800 HZ. BUT THE FEQUENCY COUNTER SHOWS 1482 HZ. THERE IS LARGE DEVIATION. WHAT IS THE REASON? WHAT IS THE ACURACY OF THE MEASUREMENT OF THE PROGRAM? PLEASE HELP ME.

A subject and/or message in all capital letters is considered shouting, which is rude in most social situations.

What frequency is your hardware running at? The example ex_freq.c is supposed to be running at 20MHz.
