Only RX rs232
PostPosted: Sat Mar 25, 2006 6:27 am     Reply with quote

I need only read RS232-data, in PIC (16F876A) RX-pin.
Can i config PIC TX-pin other (no RS232-data) input or output?
Is this OK?
#use rs232(baud=4800,parity=N,rcv=PIN_C7,bits=8,errors)
.
output_float(PIN_C6);
.

Put C6, in the RS232 statement as well, and just don't use the transmit ability (putc etc..).
If you leave one of the pins 'out' of the use statement, the compiler switches to using 'software' RS232. However there is nothing to stop you using the pin, and no I/O will occur to it (the actual code will not even be generated), unless you use a putc or similar routine. :-)

Best Wishes
