Crystal question...
PostPosted: Wed Aug 09, 2006 4:52 pm     Reply with quote

Hi all,

I want to do some 40mhz stuff with my pic18f4520, and I'm using the Software Proto Board that currently has a 20mhz installed.

I'm working with some timer stuff, and need a solution that is stable.

On the can of the 20mhz crystal, it says "20.00000MHZ" and the new crystal I got says "10.000Mhz".

Okay, now for the questions...

Is there really a difference between generic and brand crystils? What should I look for, really? I ordered some 100% based on what I need and got a generic crystal that should/will work....

In other words, I don't want to add more grief in my life because of a bogus crystal!

Thanks!
