Newbie with no idea how to configure the CCS Embedded Internet board.
I really have no idea where to start with this thing, it was thrown in my lap and I was told to make it work. Basically, how do I establish the ethernet communications. When I plug it into an active ethernet port and power the board I get a message "DHCP NOT BOUND" where do I go from here?
Thanks in advance for your help get a newbie up and running! |

I don't know this demo board, but if this was a PC, and it gave a similar message, I'd say you need a dhcp server somewhere on the network to which it is being connected. Most MS OS's, can be made to provide such a server, but how to enable it changes for the different Os's. DHCP, is the system where one machine (at least) on each network dynamically assigns IP addresses to each machine connected to the network. If the demo board expects to receive an IP address this way, and no server is present, it'll not know what address to use.

Most of these demos have a serial interface that is used to configure them. This would allow you to turn off/on dhcp and assign a static ip address. |
