#define vs. enum
PostPosted: Sat Jun 25, 2005 6:12 pm     Reply with quote

Does CCS compiler give any advantages for enums over just #defined constants?

Thanks,

Both defines and enums result in the same optimized code size, as fas as I know.

The CCS compiler has very limited type checking, so this advantage of enums over defines is not applicable.

The only remaining advantages of enums are that the declaration is a little bit better readable and the compiler will assign values to each item.

Conclusion: almost no difference. Just a matter of taste.
