bldc motor control
PostPosted: Tue Jun 21, 2005 10:44 am     Reply with quote

Hi I am working on bldc motor and I read AN957 many times. Who can tell me how to reverse the motor direction through software? Will the circuit in AN957 be able to stand the current spike as a result of motor start or stop? Thanks

I suggest that you go the following link and download Atmel's AVR443
appnote, and the source code for it. The have an explicit routine
to set the direction, Set_Direction(), and it just selects a different
table of values for CW or CCW direction.

I haven't looked at AN957.

However, there is the PICDEM MC, where Microchip's development system uses the International Rectifier IRAMS10UP60A motor control module for 3-phase control of a BLDC motor.

You can borrow some really cool ideas from that reference design, whether it be to how to wire up your motor drive module, a 5V, 15V switching power supply, or linear optocoupler current sensing circuits. And fortunately, the manual and schematic is downloadable from the Microchip website.

This motor module, by the way, does protect against inrush current spikes, and shuts down at 10A, so you'll always be safe i think.
