BOOTLOADER concept question and fisrt post
PostPosted: Sun Jun 05, 2005 1:55 pm     Reply with quote

Hi all !!
I've just discoved this forum and I think is very interesting ! Smile
First of all, sorry for my poor English.
I'm a beginner in PIC and I'll be gratefully if you can help me.

I tried to implement a BOOTLOADER with examples included in CCS 3.219 but I have concept question/problem.

I know that first program must include "program" + "bootloader", ok. But,
When I do another version of my program (to be updated with bootloader), Does it have included the "bootloader" routine too?
In others words, Does the bootloader routine is updated every time I use the bootloader or it is allways the same (stored first time)?

Anther question please, If I use the examples, my bootloader routine is located automaticly at the end of flash memory, but
the space reserved for bootloader is just on begin of memory (datasheet) ¿? Do you know why ?
I use the 18F8722

Thank you in advance for you help.
