MPLAB plugin not working!
PostPosted: Mon May 23, 2005 8:35 pm     Reply with quote

I have MPLAB v 7.11 and PCWH v 3.222 and keep getting the same error when trying to install the MPLAB plugin.

Could not initialize installation. File size expected=299304, size returned=216728.

I have downloaded the plugin sever times and get the same error when installing. Any help would be great.

If you go to http://www.google.com and search for these quoted strings,
"File size expected" "size returned"
you will get a lot of hits. Most of them say to clear the cache for
temporary internet files in your browser. If you have IE, go to
the Tools menu, then go to Internet Options. Then select the General
tab, and then in the section for Temporary Internet Files, click the
button where it says "Delete Files". This will clear your cache.

Many thanks PCM Programmer, that did the trick. I did a few Google searches, but as you well know it's all about how you ask the question, I quess my inquiry skills are lacking.

Right. Using short quoted strings is one of the best ways to narrow
down the search in Google.
