16F648 obsolete product?

My new customer has a project and he want to make some modifications to it. His project is running with PIC16F648.

I got specifications for modifications and I was looking for the datasheet of 16F648, but I found only 16F648A, on Microchip web site. Does anybody know if 648 is an obsolete product and if 648A is fully compatible with the non-A? Or, maybe, does anybody know where I could get much info on this matter?

Ok, guys. I got the E-mail from my customer: the poic he is using IS the 648A, not the 648. He made a mistake and I got crazy.
