Warp13a programmer 16C771 adapter question
PostPosted: Thu Sep 16, 2004 7:53 am     Reply with quote

I suspect my Dataman programmer does not program the fuses properly, or at least does not read or verify them properly. So I want to use my back-up Warp13A programmer for the PIC16C771. The Newfound electronics web site says it supports this chip with an adapter, but I can't find any info on the adapter.
Do I simply need to parallel the two VDDs and the two VSSs and drop it in the ZIF socket, or is there somthing more?

I dug through my Warp13 help file and found the following information:

Quote:

WARP-13 DIP and 16C92x ADAPTERS

There are two PIC DIP pinouts that are not supported by any of the WARP-13 programming sockets. These are the unique pinout of the 28-pin SDIP 14000 and the 20-pin pinout of the PIC 16C770, 771.

The ISP to chip wiring for these parts is shown below. Also shown is the ISP to PIC connections for the PLCC packaged 16C92x parts.

Note:

The use of the Force ISP control is not required to program these parts though the ISP port however it is recommended the Force ISP be selected as it is a good practice and it may one day prevent an accident when programming other PICs though the ISP port.

WARP-13, ISP PORT TO  14000 28-PIN

ISP  to  28-PIN SDIP SOCKET

Vdd          9

I hope you can make heads or tails of it. You could also email the owner of the site. He's replied to me a couple of times and didn't take much time to get back to me either.

On this page here, about half-way down the page, they talk about
how to modify the Warp13a to program these PICs. You also need
to use their programmer software, and not MPLAB.
http://www.newfoundelectronics.com/pics.htm

That page does have a typo.

At the top of the page it says this:
16C770, 16C771, 16C781, 16C782, 20-pin DIP PICs

But the section title says this:
16C770, 16C711, 16C781, 16C782, 20-pin DIP PICs
It should be 771.
