For now this is just a 'one off'... where did you see that Nextion are EOL? Company still appears to exist and they have what appears to be new displays and the bottom of the web page says 2024...

The model number you quoted, if you go and try to select it on their site
comes up as 'not recommended for new designs'. They have newer displays,
but if you are doing a design, it might be worth considering a newer unit.

Ah ok gotcha. Well I got it on Amazon because that's the only reliable source I could find and I know I have 30 days to return it.

However, I looked quickly and couldn't find where it says not recommended but also, been doing some searches over the last few days and Nextion is the non-Chinese version of TJC which sells only in China. And Nextion head company is apparently Itead. And my p/n on the Itead website does say "recommended for new designs" on the images on the left here:

https://itead.cc/product/4-3-nextion-intelligent-series-hmi-touch-display-with-enclosure/

But anyhow, for now it's a one-off thing for me.

It still amazes me how much 'stuff' is 'inside the box' for so few dollars !!!
Then again my first 'personal computer' cost $10K......64K RAM, 1 floppy,..

IF supply might be an issue, buy enough for a years production of units ??

Dead right.
Mine had an 8" floppy. But was still more powerful than the systems we
had at university at the time. I remember compiling a project on the
universities system, then re-compiling it on mine (Fortran program), and
it was taking less than a quarter the time on my system, than on the
one being used by hundreds of students at the uni.....
However 64K!... God that would have cost an absolute fortune then. I had
4K words of 12bit magnetic core RAM.
